Partner with Us for a Night Out at The Compton’s Cafeteria Riot
Celebrate LGBTQ+ history and community with an unforgettable night of immersive theater.
The Tenderloin Museum invites LGBTQ+ employee groups and allies to partner with us for a special evening of The Compton’s Cafeteria Riot — an immersive theater experience that brings to life the 1966 uprising in San Francisco’s Tenderloin, when trans women and queer residents fought back against police harassment and helped spark the modern LGBTQ+ movement.
Hosting a night of The Compton’s Cafeteria Riot is an opportunity to:
Honor San Francisco’s queer and trans history through a moving, locally rooted performance
Engage and inspire your team with a shared experience that connects art, activism, and community
Support the Tenderloin Museum’s mission to preserve and celebrate the neighborhood’s diverse cultural legacy
Each hosted evening can be tailored to your group — from a private full-house performance to a large group block within a public show. We can also help plan a pre- or post-show reception, a talkback with artists, or recognition opportunities for your company or LGBTQ+ employee network.
Your participation helps sustain local artists, storytellers, and the Tenderloin Museum, a nonprofit organization dedicated to uplifting the voices and histories that shaped San Francisco’s most vibrant and misunderstood neighborhood.
How to Make It Happen
Organizing a hosted night is simple and flexible — options range from the cost of a team outing to a full sponsored performance:
-
#1. Choose your date.
Performances are every Friday and Saturday night at 7 PM; we’ll share available nights and seating options. We can also add performances on different days and times if scheduling permits.
-
#2. Select your format.
Decide whether you’d like a private performance (up to 65 guests) or a group block within a public show.
-
#3. Add your touch.
We can coordinate a pre-show gathering, artist Q&A, post-show reception, or recognition moment for your LGBTQ+ employee group.
-
#4. Confirm and celebrate.
Once your night is set, we’ll handle logistics and provide materials to help you invite your team.
